Implant Logistics was founded by general dentist and implantologist, Dr. Leo Malin. As well as running a private practice in La Crosse Wisconsin, he lectures on and teaches full-mouth reconstructions and implant placements. He has received several awards for his contribution to implant and neuromuscular dentistry.
Dr. Malin’s interest in implant dentistry started when he purchased a practice in 1993 from a retiring dentist that provided a lot of implant dentistry for his patients. In order to continue providing implant services for those patients it required a commitment to become educated and knowledgeable about implant-related services. Very little implant education was offered in the dental school programs. Dr. Malin attended many implant educational programs between 1993 and 2004 and found the experience valuable but confusing.
Implant dentistry was evolving and the messages was not always consistent and easily understood. Dr. Malin started instructing implant programs himself in 2004 with the intent of simplifying the implants processes and making them more understandable to fellow clinicians, using all of the latest technologies available to achieve that goal.
Dr. Malin has himself placed over 10,000 implants. He has been featured twice in Dentistry Today, including as one of the “Top Clinicians of the Year in Continuing Education."
Dr. Malin also set off on a quest to find the best implants and components available that would be robust, simple to use, preserve bone and give predictable results. He found that some of the implants available in Europe that he felt were superior to the U.S. ones were simply not available to the US market.
When the Morse tapered implants were introduced into the US they were significantly better then what was available in the U.S., however, Dr. Malin felt these systems could be improved and the cost of those systems was also prohibitive. He set about developing an improved implant system at a more affordable price. The result was the Implant-One system.
